The method of payment and costs should be clearly described in a contract between you and your appraiser.
What other costs are there?
Other costs may include long distance telephone fees, travel time, ferry fees, if applicable, mileage, hotel/motel and meal expenses if an overnight is required. Be sure these are discussed with the appraiser prior to signing a contract.
What can I expect to receive for the appraisal fee?
You should receive a document describing your personal property clearly and accurately with a market value of each item. The market value is determined by the function of the appraisal. Some of those functions are insurance, dissolution of marriage, probate and estate settlement.
